Strips are working again

Posted: 2011-12-13 10:47, martin

After several of months of slacking, moving and traveling, I decided to get my thumb out of my ass and actually fix the broken updater for Rocky, Rocky black and white, Nemi and Wulffmorgenthaler. For some reason all these changed URL's almost at the same time. Thanks.

Oh by the way, I can definitely recommend Cuba! :)

I'm moving the bug tracking for http://www.scandinavian-comics.com/ from my trac instance on Webfaction to Bitbucket!

Rocky strip pulled from DN.se

Posted: 2010-11-02 18:12, martin

The strip, published on Friday the 29th of October, was pulled by DN’s culture editor Björn Wiman after a number of complaints of it being anti-semitic.

Samuel Larsson stops drawing Jan Andersson

Posted: 2010-09-29 17:54, martin

After a period of technical issues on his site janandersson.be, a message showed: The comic strip Jan Andersson is taking a break indefinitely.

Popular comic strips

Posted: 2010-08-26 08:25, martin

Today I added a new feature on the frontpage. Previously, the most popular comic strip was featured, but I thought it was disappointing just to see only one. So let me proudly present the Strip Slider!

Android app for reading Rocky

Posted: 2010-08-19 07:13, martin

There is a new Android app, made by one Mats Karlsson, for reading the Daily Rocky on your phone. I don’t know what version of Rocky he is using, but I’m happy that there is yet another way to read our favorite comic strip.

So if you have an Android phone, download the application from AppBrain and try it out and let me know how it works!

The funny Jan Andersson is the latest addition

Posted: 2010-07-13 00:45, martin

After doing way too much bug fixes for the Wulffmorgenthaler webcomic, I wanted to read a new comic strip. Roaming the web in search for a new good comic strip for a while, I finally found a new one called 'Jan Andersson'.

Number of strips and more

Posted: 2010-07-09 07:45, martin

I updated Scandinavian Comics with some new features. If you look at the available comic strips, you can now see a small NEW icon if one has been newly added to our index. Also, for you stats freaks, for each webcomic, you can see how many daily strips I have in the database for you to read.

Scandinavian Comics - Now on Facebook

Posted: 2010-07-08 22:59, martin

I just added a fan page on Facebook for this site. I'm not really sure why, but it felt nice to learn how that worked. So rush over to Scandinavian Comics Fan Page and press the Like button as soon as you can! (and don't forget to tell your friends about it, either!)

Most popular comic strip

Posted: 2010-07-04 18:33, martin

I added a new little feature, namely the most popular webcomic right now! The comic strip you guys read the most within a 24 hour period appears on the frontpage. Besides being useful in other situations, it is also nice to have a little bling-bling on the frontpage, isn't it?

Comic strip fetching upgraded

Posted: 2010-07-04 14:18, martin

Pulling stuff from the web can be a pain.
Some of you might have noticed that the strips Rocky (in black and white) and Wulffmorgenthaler was not always updated as it should. The reason for this was that the algorithm for fetching it was kind of unreliable. Also, the Wulffmorgenthaler site served images with totally crazy filenames containing Danish characters and whitespaces all over the place, which made it even harder.

Nemi in Swedish is here

Posted: 2010-06-27 14:40, martin

Today I added Nemi, the cynical and romantic goth girl comic strip, written and drawn by Lise Myhre, to the list. The webcomic is quite popular in Norway and Sweden, so it should be a good read for ya'll :) The comic strip is translated to Swedish, but I will add it in the original language as soon as I find a good source.

Fluffy clouds

Posted: 2010-06-24 22:04, martin

A new design is fresh off the shelves!

I figured the "old" design was a bit... heavy on the eye. So I redid it, and in the process I also fixed some bugs and streamlined navigation a little bit. If you like it, let me and your friends know! Just click on a Facebook Like somewhere, we will all appreciate it! :)

Country icons

Posted: 2010-06-20 12:52, martin

I added some icons so you easier can see where a strip comes from and what language it's written in. They also add a little color to this, don't you think? :)

Facebook additions

Posted: 2010-06-19 00:30, martin

Allrighty! Now you can "Facebook like" strips as well as blog posts here at Scandinavian Comics! It's an easy way to say "Hey dude! I like what you did and want to tell the world about it."
So, let me know what you think and then just continue browse the comic strips :)

Wulffmorgenthaler is available!

Posted: 2010-06-15 00:34, martin

The Danish comic strip Wulffmorgenthaler is now available at Scandinavian Comics. It's a strip made by Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler and is hugely popular in Denmark. See what it's all about at the Wulffmorgenthaler page.

Prettifying experience

Posted: 2010-06-12 15:47, martin

If you look here in the blog, you'll see that the tags are a bit smoother for the eye, as I have styled them a little. And just to clarify even more, they reside under something called Categories. Nice, eh?

Comment count fixed

Posted: 2010-06-12 14:02, martin

There was a small problem where the comment count for blog posts and strips always showed 0. This has now been taken care of you favorite developer. :)
